Physical Wellness
Healthy Diet
A healthy diet is essential for maintaining a healthy weight, reducing the risk of potential health problems, and for providing you with the energy needed for your daily activities.
If the calories you consume from your food are not used as energy, your body will store this excess energy as fat, leading to you gaining weight.
A healthy diet therefore consists of eating foods that will provide your body with all the nutrients it needs, as well consuming the correct amount of calories needed to maintain a healthy weight and meet all your energy needs.
Exercise
Exercise as a daily routine is very important for your health and not only for weight management.
Research has shown that regular physical activity can help;
Reduce body fat, stress, and fatigue
Boost mental health, brain power, and the immune system
Boost energy levels and self-esteem
Oxygenate the body and clears arteries
Strengthen muscles, the heart, and bones
Manage chronic pain and maintain mobility
Lower the blood pressure, the risk of some cancers, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression, dementia, Alzheimer's disease and stroke
Detoxify the body
Improve joint function, memory, coordination, mood, sleep quality, and complexion
Increase longevity
Sleep
Sleep is crucial for a healthy lifestyle as it allows the body to restore itself, for cells to repair themselves, to avoid chronic health problems, and to support brain function.
Sleeping also helps to maintain a healthy weight, reduce stress, improve mood, and help you concentrate and think more clearly. Between 7 hours or 8 hours of sleep a night are sufficient.
Health Monitoring
Regular check-ups can help find health problems before they start. Some aspects can be self-monitored whilst others may require the assistance of health professionals. Finding and diagnosing health issues early, may lead to a vast improvement on the chances for treatment and a cure for the better.
Hygiene
Good personal hygiene is important for healthy physical and mental well-being. It requires all parts of the external body to be properly cleaned and maintained.
Poor personal hygiene provides an ideal environment for germs to grow, which leaves the body vulnerable to illness and infections.
It often results in isolation or solitude as people try to avoid contact with others with poor personal hygiene.
Avoid
There are often habits or actions that are incorporated into our lives which are not beneficial for our physical wellness.
Although some habit and actions can be tolerated in moderation, there are others that should be avoided all together if one is truly aspiring to optimise their physical wellness.
It is therefore important to make informed decisions regarding such habits and actions based on research and observable facts.
